| Reference Clients: | If unable to deliver to the lab immediately, store and transport specimen at 2-8° C. Specimen must be received in the lab within 48 hours. All specimens drawn as outpatients will be for informational purposes only not for transfusion. |
| Causes for Rejection: | Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient quantity, incorrect/delay in transport, grossly hemolyzed, failure to provide a properly completed Transfusion Requisition Form and a Blood Infusion Form. |

| Additional Information: | Cryoprecipitate is thawed at temperatures between 30° - 37° C and is then stored at room temperature until it is transfused. Transfuse as soon as possible, but within four hours of thawing. The individual units are routinely pooled into a single bag. The product can not be thawed and refrozen. |
| | Cryoprecipitate may be used for the treatment of Von Willebrands disease and for hypofibrinogenemia and rarely used for factor VIII deficiency (hemophilia A). Transfusion associated disease is a possible complication of cryoprecipitate. A single unit of cryoprecipitate usually contains 80 units of factor VIII and 200 mgs of fibrinogen in approximately 25-30 mLs of plasma. |
